We emphasize fire and fishing in our kit for very good reasons.
First, a fire when made right, big enough and hot enough can in effect function as a shelter. If you can get in out of the wind, and even take advantage of a natural shelter from precipitation, a very large fire will keep you warm and provide that all important psychological edge to help get you through that 72-hour rescue scenario. Our kit comes with two, ZT, emergency tinder that will light wet wood, a bag of our Jellied Ginned Cotton and a mini ferrocerium rod to spark it all to flame. We recommend using the sharp edge of the included razor blade to generate the sparks needed from the ferro-rod.
Secondly, being able to procure food after your make-shift shelter and large fire have been built is extremely important for the survivor, and fish are the very best source of food to pursue. Fish, unlike say rabbits and squirrel, are loaded with protein, AND most importantly, fats, to help rebuild the calories lost during a stressful situation. Also, fishing is a great activity to keep you busy while waiting for your rescue. In our kit we give you over 50’ of fishing line, lures, sinkers and hooks that are proven winners in catching fish in streams, lakes and even salt water. Use the included tin as your fishing reel. Simply wrap the line around the tin to cast and retrieve your line.
The rest of the contents are there to give you a physiological boost to help you make it through, build a shelter, repair clothing and patch up any wounds you may have incurred. Survival sucks, so we provide products that help remind you of home, such as Taster's Choice Coffee, Lipton Tea, Emergency C pack, Snickers bar, hard candy and a lot more.
Great mini survival kit.
